Taiwan launches 10-day military drills amid rising China tensions!

Taiwan launched a 10-day military exercise on Wednesday, July 9, 2025, in response to increasing military and strategic pressure from China. The annual drills aim to strengthen the island’s defense capabilities against a potential Chinese invasion and to counter the “gray zone tactics” used by the Chinese military - actions that provoke or intimidate without triggering open warfare.

The exercises simulate real combat scenarios, including coastal defense, urban warfare, and emergency mobilization. Taiwanese officials said this year’s drills are more intensive and focused on readiness, reflecting growing concerns over Beijing’s military maneuvers in the Taiwan Strait.

The People’s Liberation Army (PLA) of China has repeatedly conducted aggressive aerial and naval operations near Taiwan, escalating regional tensions. In response, Taiwan has called for increased international support and emphasized its right to defend its sovereignty.

Officials in Taipei said the drills are essential to deter aggression and demonstrate Taiwan’s preparedness in the face of constant Chinese pressure, both militarily and through cyber and psychological warfare tactics.
