The state government has allocated ₹5 crore for this initiative, reflecting a commitment to bolstering the region's appeal to travelers. 

Positioned between Sangla and Chitkul, Rakchham is renowned for its pristine landscapes, traditional wooden homes, and tranquil environment.

The development project includes repairing pathways in Rakchham, Batseri, and Kharogla villages. Additionally, public amenities such as toilets, watchman huts, wooden huts, and watchtowers will be constructed to cater to the needs of tourists.

A notable feature of the plan is the introduction of a trolley-based trail from Sangla via Debar Kanda to Sangla Kanda, designed to promote adventure activities in the area. 

This initiative aligns with the broader objectives of the Swadesh Darshan 2.0 scheme, under which Rakchham and Chitkul have been selected for development. The scheme aims to promote sustainable and responsible tourism by enhancing the infrastructure of culturally and naturally rich destinations across India. The focus is on preserving the region's natural beauty while making it more accessible and comfortable for visitors.

Known for its untouched meadows, apple orchards, and proximity to the Baspa River, Rakchham is a hidden gem in the Himalayas. It offers trekking routes, serene village life, and stunning views of snow-capped peaks—making it an ideal location for those seeking peace and nature. Adventure seekers, too, find the area appealing for hikes, bird watching, and exploring alpine flora and fauna.

Officials have also emphasized the importance of involving local communities in the planning and execution of these projects, ensuring that the development remains culturally sensitive and sustainable in the long run.

With these initiatives under way, Rakchham is poised to emerge as a model of eco-conscious tourism in Himachal Pradesh, balancing natural preservation with modern travel needs.
