The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) revealed its first list of 29 candidates for the upcoming Delhi Assembly elections, scheduled for February 2025. Among the key candidates is Parvesh Verma, former Member of Parliament (MP) from West Delhi, who will compete against Arvind Kejriwal, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) chief, in the New Delhi constituency.

Additionally, Ramesh Bidhuri, the former MP from South Delhi, has been chosen to challenge Delhi’s Chief Minister Atishi in the Kalkaji constituency. The BJP has also made strategic adjustments, such as fielding former AAP Minister Kailash Gahlot from Bijwasan, instead of his previous constituency of Najafgarh.

The party also made the significant decision to replace Anil Bajpayee, the MLA from Gandhi Nagar, with Arvinder Singh Lovely, former Delhi Congress chief, as its candidate. This change has been part of the BJP's attempt to strengthen its position ahead of the elections.

Originally, the release of the candidate list was expected to happen in late December, following a meeting of the Central Election Committee chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Meanwhile, the AAP has already announced its candidates for all 70 constituencies in Delhi, while Congress has named candidates for 21 seats, with more announcements likely in the coming days.
