In Vidarbha, chemical‑engineer founders Mayank Jadhao and Rajat Nikhade launched oRegion (“Original Regional Foods”) to deliver 100% natural, preservative‑free foods with full traceability—and to uplift local farmers. Operating directly with zero‑budget natural farmers, tribal communities, and self‑help groups, the startup builds a sustainable farm‑to‑table supply chain that preserves traditional practices and guarantees fair income for cultivators.
The founders’ encounter with farmer Sachidanand Talvekar catalysed their mission: Talvekar produced high‑quality cold‑pressed oil but lacked market access. oRegion’s procurement platform revived his business by linking him with a growing consumer base demanding clean and honest food.
Within one year, oRegion expanded its presence across D2C channels, major platforms like Amazon, JioMart, Tata 1mg, and physical retail in metropolitan markets. The startup projects achieving ₹1 crore monthly revenue within 12–24 months, targeting a ₹300 crore market for premium natural foods. To date, it has raised ₹55.5 lakh, including ₹25 lakh from Startup India Seed Fund and ₹5.5 lakh via an HDFC grant, and is now seeking further capital to scale globally and onboard more farmers.
Its flagship product—a cold‑pressed flaxseed oil rich in omega‑3 and antioxidants—has gained traction among nutritionists and fitness experts. The brand’s commitment to transparency and local empowerment has also attracted attention from public figures like Minister Nitin Gadkari. oRegion isn’t just selling food it’s building a movement that bridges modern consumers and Vidarbha’s agricultural heritage.
