President Donald Trump has announced plans to speak with Russian President Vladimir Putin on Tuesday to discuss a potential ceasefire in Ukraine. This follows a 30-day ceasefire agreement recently accepted by Ukraine.
The upcoming talks aim to address the division of territories and control over power plants, reflecting ongoing negotiations between U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov. Russia has emphasized the necessity of Ukraine's exclusion from NATO as a fundamental condition for peace. Additionally, Russia has opposed the deployment of European peacekeeping forces to oversee any ceasefire, arguing that such involvement could complicate the situation.
The international community is closely monitoring these developments, hopeful that the dialogue between Trump and Putin will lead to a resolution of the conflict, which has persisted for over three years.
