Smoking harms nearly every organ in the body, and for women, the risks can be even more severe. From reproductive health to increased cancer risks, smoking has long-term consequences that every woman should be aware of.
Reproductive and Pregnancy Risks
Women who smoke often experience irregular or painful periods, early menopause, and fertility issues. Smoking during pregnancy can lead to premature birth, birth defects, and developmental issues for the baby. Quitting at any stage of pregnancy improves both maternal and infant health.
Heart and Lung Diseases
Smoking significantly increases the risk of heart disease, which is the leading cause of death in women. It also causes chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), a life-threatening lung condition. Women are more likely than men to develop severe COPD at a younger age.
Cancer Risks
Smoking is linked to several cancers, including cervical and lung cancer. More women die from lung cancer than breast cancer.
Quitting smoking can improve mood, increase energy, and lower disease risks. It's never too late to quit and start healing!
