"Udaipur files" gets green signal from Supreme court! To be released soon.

In a turning point for the embattled film Udaipur Files: Kanhaiya Lal Tailor Murder, the Supreme Court refused to extend a previous stay order and instructed the Delhi High Court to assess objections firsthand. This paved the way for the Ministry of Information & Broadcasting (I&B) to revoke its July 21 decision, re-examine the film, and reaffirm its approval.

Originally slated for a July 11 release, the film faced legal obstacles including demands for six additional cuts, name replacements, and other modifications due to concerns over communal tensions and ongoing trial sensitivities. The CBFC had required 55 cuts, including a disclaimer and the renaming of a character resembling Nupur Sharma.

After the court-ordered review, the central government dismissed further objections, affirming that previous certification was procedurally sound. Filmmakers confirmed that the project will now release on August 8, 2025, stating, “Truth always wins.”

With major legal hurdles cleared and Y-category security provided to producer Amit Jani amid threats, the film’s release marks the culmination of an intense debate over artistic freedom, legal fairness, and communal harmony. Audiences and analysts alike now await how this controversial true-story drama will be received.
