India’s on-demand house help market is rapidly evolving into a two-horse race between leading platforms as urban consumers increasingly value speed, reliability and convenience in domestic services. Once a space crowded with many players, the segment — covering tasks like cleaning, dishwashing and basic household chores — is now dominated by Urban Company, the established marketplace, and Snabbit, a newer contender focused on instant fulfilment. Snabbit has surged to around 500,000 monthly jobs, narrowing the gap with Urban Company’s roughly 600,000 jobs in December 2025, showing how quickly the race is tightening.
Snabbit’s strategy revolves around rapid fulfilment, often promising helpers within 15 minutes in key metros, prompting Urban Company to sharpen its own instant service offerings. This competitive dynamic resembles past tech battles — such as food delivery wars — where execution and logistical strength outweigh simple listings. Investors note that capital, labour and demand are concentrating around these two firms capable of sustained scale in this execution-heavy category.
Earlier entrants like TaskBob and Housejoy faded due to weak unit economics and inability to build dense fulfilment networks, underscoring that reliable service and worker utilisation are now critical. Analysts expect India’s online home services sector to grow robustly through 2030 as instant help becomes a habitual convenience for time-pressed urban households, signalling a transformational shift in how domestic chores are outsourced and experienced.
