Mahashivratri is a sacred festival dedicated to Lord Shiva, and many devotees observe a vrat (fast) on this day. While fasting, people often look for light, falahari (fast-friendly) dishes that are both delicious and easy to prepare. One such perfect snack is Sabudana Fries a crispy, tasty, and quick-to-make treat that the whole family will love!
Why Sabudana Fries?
Sabudana (tapioca pearls) is a staple during fasting because it provides instant energy and is easy to digest. It is rich in carbohydrates, making it a great source of fuel for the body while fasting. Unlike deep-fried snacks, these fries are light yet crispy and flavorful, making them an excellent alternative to traditional vrat food.
To prepare sabudana fries, first soak sabudana until soft. Mix it with boiled potatoes, sendha namak (rock salt), green chilies, and peanuts for added crunch and flavor. Shape the mixture into fries and shallow-fry or air-fry until golden brown.
Pair these crispy fries with a vrat-friendly chutney like coconut or peanut chutney for a delightful taste. They also go well with curd or sweet yogurt-based dips.
This simple yet tasty snack will make your Mahashivratri vrat more enjoyable while keeping your energy levels high. So, try these crispy sabudana fries and celebrate the festival of devotion with delicious food! Har Har Mahadev!
