Ajit Doval, India's National Security Advisor since 2014, is widely known as the "James Bond of India" for his daring intelligence work and high-risk undercover missions.
A former IPS officer from the 1968 batch, Doval served decades in the Intelligence Bureau, rising to become its Director in 2004.
His legendary status stems from several covert operations. Doval reportedly spent seven years undercover in Pakistan, gathering crucial intelligence on terrorist networks.
He played a key role during Operation Blue Star (1984) and, in 1988, disguised himself as a rickshaw puller during Operation Black Thunder, infiltrating the Golden Temple and convincing militants to surrender.
In Kashmir, he negotiated with militant Kuka Parray in 1990, leading to a key shift in the insurgency. Doval also led negotiations during the 1999 IC-814 hijacking and is credited with resolving multiple hijackings between 1971 and 1999.
In 2014, he coordinated the rescue of 46 Indian nurses from ISIS-held Iraq, and as NSA, he oversaw the 2016 and 2019 surgical strikes against terror camps in Pakistan and Myanmar.
Through courage, strategy, and espionage excellence, Ajit Doval has become a symbol of India’s intelligence prowess earning him the title "India's James Bond."
