A heated altercation unfolded outside the Parliament on Thursday, with BJP MP Pratap Chandra Sarangi accusing Congress leader Rahul Gandhi of pushing a fellow MP, allegedly causing Sarangi to sustain a head injury. The incident occurred as members of the INDIA bloc and BJP clashed near Makar Dwar.
Rahul Gandhi categorically denied the allegations, claiming it was BJP MPs who obstructed and threatened him while he attempted to enter the Parliament premises. Gandhi further alleged that Congress chief Mallikarjun Kharge was also pushed and blocked by BJP MPs.
The Congress party shared a video purportedly showing BJP MPs preventing MP Priyanka Gandhi Vadra and Mallikarjun Kharge from entering the Parliament. In response, Kharge submitted a privilege notice against Union Minister Amit Shah for making "insulting remarks" about Dr. B.R. Ambedkar during a Rajya Sabha session.
Sarangi, the BJP MP from Balasore, stated that the alleged scuffle began when Rahul Gandhi pushed a BJP MP, who then fell onto him, leading to Sarangi's injury. He claimed this resulted in a head injury, intensifying the confrontation.
The incident highlights the growing tensions between the two political factions during parliamentary proceedings. While the Congress has dismissed the BJP’s allegations as baseless, the BJP has called for accountability. The episode reflects the charged political environment within and outside Parliament, underscoring the heightened polarization in Indian politics.
