Quick Disbursement: ₹8,126 Crore in 70 Days

Sugar mills across India have successfully disbursed ₹8,126 crore to sugarcane farmers within the initial 70 days of the 2024-25 crushing season. This significant achievement underscores the industry’s dedication to ensuring timely payments and fostering positive relationships with farming communities.

The large-scale payout comes at a time when sugarcane production is seeing a marked rise. Industry experts attribute the steady payment schedules to improved efficiencies and cooperative efforts between mills and farmers. This financial milestone is crucial, as it helps sustain farmers' livelihoods and boosts rural economies, especially in states where sugarcane farming is a primary source of income.

State-wise data reveals notable progress, with regions like Uttar Pradesh and Maharashtra, the country’s leading sugar producers, spearheading payments. These states alone account for a significant percentage of the total disbursed amount, reflecting their critical role in India’s sugar economy.

The prompt payments are not just a win for farmers but also reinforce the reputation of sugar mills as reliable industry players. As the season progresses, stakeholders anticipate an even stronger performance, with an emphasis on meeting production and payment targets. Such advancements contribute to stabilizing the agricultural sector while ensuring sustained growth for one of India’s most critical crops.
