Prime Minister Narendra Modi, during his visit to France, delivered the inaugural address at the prestigious AI Action Summit in Paris, alongside global leaders like French President Emmanuel Macron, EU Commission President Ursula Von Der Leyen, UN Chief Antonio Guterres, and Google CEO Sundar Pichai. Modi emphasized the urgent need for skilling and reskilling the global workforce for an AI-driven future and highlighted the importance of inclusive governance, particularly for the Global South.
Responding to PM Modi's proposal, France announced that India will host the next AI summit, reflecting deepening India-France collaboration in AI advancements. Additionally, India's IT Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw announced plans to develop an indigenous AI model to counter China's DeepSeek technology.
At the India-France CEOs Forum, Modi invited French businesses to invest in India's rapidly growing markets, spotlighting advancements in manufacturing, infrastructure, and production. He urged partnerships to help achieve India's vision of a 'Viksit Bharat' (Developed India) by 2047.
The high-profile visit also included a dinner hosted by President Macron at the Élysée Palace, with distinguished global tech leaders in attendance. After arriving in Marseille, Modi expressed gratitude to the city for aiding Veer Savarkar's escape from British custody.
The itinerary includes a visit to the Mazargues War Cemetery, where Modi will pay homage to Indian soldiers who sacrificed their lives in World War I, and the Cadarache research facility, home to the ITER project. This visit underscores India's strategic partnerships in technology, energy, and history.
