A rare cosmic spectacle awaits early risers on Thursday, August 28, 2025, as six planets line up in the pre-dawn sky, a sight not expected again until 2028.
The brightest stars of this parade are Venus and Jupiter, shining in the east about 16 degrees apart. Saturn will glow in the southwest before fading into sunrise, while Mercury makes a fleeting appearance just above the eastern horizon about 45 minutes before sunrise. Spotting Uranus and Neptune will require binoculars or a telescope.
For the best view, step outside at least an hour before sunrise with a clear, unobstructed horizon. This line-up begins to break apart by the end of August, so timing is crucial.
Beyond the parade, September promises more sky highlights: a total lunar eclipse on September 7, visible from India, China, Japan, Indonesia, South Africa, Kenya, Tanzania, Nigeria, and western Australia, and Saturn at opposition on September 21.
Whether you’re an avid stargazer or just curious, this celestial parade is a reminder to pause, look up, and catch the universe in motion.
