Woman arrested at Mumbai airport for ₹62.6 crore cocaine haul hidden in Oreo boxes!

On July 14, Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) officers at Mumbai's Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport intercepted an Indian national arriving from Doha after receiving credible intelligence. Upon examination, agents discovered six Oreo biscuit boxes and three chocolate boxes, each containing capsules filled with a white powder, later field-tested positive for cocaine.

A total of 300 capsules, amounting to 6,261 grams of the drug, were seized. The DRI estimates the street value at ₹62.6 crore, marking it as one of the largest single drug busts at the airport. The woman has been arrested under provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, 1985, and a detailed investigation is underway to identify her handlers and networks.

This bust highlights the sophisticated methods used by traffickers to conceal narcotics within everyday products an ongoing challenge for customs and anti-narcotics officials.
