The Yamuna River’s water level in Delhi has dipped below 207 metres, now measured at 206.47 m at the Old Railway Bridge, though it continues to exceed the danger threshold of 205.33 m. Authorities previously activated evacuations once levels crossed the 206 m mark, with thousands displaced from low-lying neighborhoods like Civil Lines, Mayur Vihar, and Yamuna Khadar.
This latest drop follows a series of alarming measurements - peaking at 207.48 m, the third-highest level since 1963, nearly matching the 1978 flood of 207.49 m. Still, the situation remains critical, with the warning mark at 204.50 m, danger mark at 205.33 m, and evacuation triggered at 206 m .
To manage the crisis, Delhi authorities have kept emergency relief camps operational, especially in Civil Lines and other flood-hit areas, while agencies like the NDMC coordinate evacuation and safety measures. Although the receding waters signal potential respite, the Yamuna remains a looming threat—underscoring the need for sustained vigilance and infrastructural resilience.
