Three members of a Delhi family—a father and two children—tragically lost their lives in a high-rise fire at Dwarka’s Sector 13 on the morning of June 10, 2025. The blaze erupted in their ninth–tenth floor duplex flat at Shabad Apartments, prompting the victims to leap from the balcony in a desperate attempt to escape the flames.
The deceased have been identified as 18‑year‑old Aditya Yadav’s father, his 10‑year‑old sister, and their 11‑year‑old cousin—who, according to relatives, was about to turn 11 next month. Eyewitnesses recounted that neighbours had urged the family to wait so they could improvise a safety net using a bedsheet, but panic led them to jump prematurely—tragically resulting in fatal injuries upon impact.
Emergency teams, including eight fire tenders, rushed to the scene but were unable to prevent the fatal fall. Two additional individuals who sustained burn injuries are currently undergoing treatment. Authorities have launched an investigation into the fire’s cause and are reviewing building safety protocols for high-rise residences.
The incident has shaken the Dwarka community, renewing public debate over fire preparedness and rescue capabilities during high-rise emergencies. Local residents and safety advocates are calling for stricter enforcement of fire-safety standards, including regular drills, improved escape routes, and better on-site emergency equipment to prevent similar tragedies in the future.
