Amazon to cut 14,000 managerial jobs- massive layoffs ahead in 2025!

Amazon is making bold moves to streamline its operations, announcing plans to eliminate 14,000 managerial positions by early 2025. This 13% reduction in its global management workforce is expected to save between $2.1 billion and $3.6 billion annually. The number of managers will shrink from 105,770 to 91,936, as the company aims to enhance efficiency and reduce bureaucratic layers.

According to Business Insider, Amazon's CEO Andy Jassy is driving a strategic realignment to simplify decision-making and improve productivity. One key initiative is increasing the ratio of individual contributors to managers by 15%, ensuring a leaner and more agile workforce.

To support this shift, Amazon has introduced a "bureaucracy tipline", allowing employees to flag inefficiencies. Managers have also been instructed to find ways to streamline operations, reflecting the company's commitment to faster decision-making and cost-effectiveness.

This restructuring is part of Amazon's broader efforts to improve profitability. The company has already shut down several projects, including the "Try Before You Buy" apparel service and a brick-and-mortar rapid delivery program.

Amazon's workforce doubled during the pandemic, jumping from 798,000 employees in 2019 to over 1.6 million by the end of 2021. However, with post-pandemic stabilization, the company is reassessing its staffing needs. In 2022 and 2023, Amazon cut 27,000 jobs, and this new round of layoffs signals a continued focus on efficiency and cost management.

A Morgan Stanley analysis suggests Amazon's restructuring could cut approximately 13,834 managerial positions, leading to substantial financial savings. The company is clearly prioritizing operational efficiency and profitability, ensuring it remains competitive in the evolving market.
