On March 5, 2025, India's stock markets opened on a positive note, recovering from previous losses. The benchmark BSE Sensex rose by 182.24 points (0.25%) to 73,172.17, while the NSE Nifty gained 49.80 points (0.23%) to reach 22,132.45. This uptick was primarily driven by significant gains in the IT, telecom, and energy sectors.

Among the top performers, Power Grid Corporation of India saw a 2.66% increase, trading at ₹260.80. Mahindra & Mahindra followed closely with a 2.65% rise, reaching ₹2,683.40. HCL Technologies also experienced a 1.57% uptick, trading at ₹1,560.

Sector-wise, the Nifty Midsmall IT & Telecom Index surged by 1.99% to 8,863.40. The Nifty Oil & Gas index climbed 1.16% to 9,687.95, and the Nifty IT index increased by 1.08%, reaching 37,678.85.

This positive momentum comes after a previous session marked by declines, influenced by the implementation of U.S. tariffs on China, Canada, and Mexico. The rebound reflects renewed investor confidence, particularly in sectors demonstrating resilience amid global economic challenges.

Analysts advise monitoring global trade developments closely, as ongoing geopolitical tensions could impact market stability in the coming weeks.
