In a disturbing development, three Indian nationals from Punjab have gone missing in Iran after landing in Tehran on May 2. The Indian Embassy in Iran confirmed that the trio, Husanpreet Singh, Jaspal Singh, and Amritpal Singh are reportedly being held captive by human traffickers.
The embassy said it is in close touch with Iranian authorities and has demanded swift action to trace the missing citizens and ensure their safety. The families of the victims were informed by Amritpal Singh shortly after arrival that they were detained and the captors were demanding ₹18 lakh each for their release.
The embassy is regularly updating the families and has launched a formal appeal for intervention. The accused travel agents have reportedly gone underground. This case highlights the growing danger of illegal migration routes and the urgent need for international cooperation to prevent such human trafficking crimes.
