In an extraordinary diplomatic gesture, Prime Minister Narendra Modi personally received the Amir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al Thani, at Indira Gandhi International Airport, Delhi, on Monday. External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar was also present, marking the beginning of a crucial two-day state visit.
The high-profile visit, at Modi's invitation, aims to strengthen India-Qatar ties across trade, investment, energy, and technology. The two leaders will engage in discussions on Tuesday, with multiple MoUs expected to be signed. The Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) and the Commerce Ministry will host a business forum, exploring investment opportunities between both nations.
With Qatar being home to the largest Indian expatriate community in the Gulf, the visit underscores deep economic and cultural ties. The strategic significance of this diplomatic exchange could shape India's global partnerships and energy security.
