After a relentless week-long manhunt across three states and scrutiny of nearly 700 CCTV cameras, Bengaluru Police have arrested 29-year-old Santosh, accused of molesting a woman in BTM Layout on April 3. The incident, which occurred around 1:55 AM, was captured on CCTV and went viral, sparking outrage. Santosh, a driver at a Jaguar showroom, was tracked down from Bengaluru to Hosur, Salem, and finally to Kozhikode, Kerala, where he was arrested.
The case was registered under Sections 74, 75, and 78 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). While police located the victims, the women have chosen not to participate in the investigation, requesting privacy.
The case also triggered a political row after Karnataka Home Minister G Parameshwara remarked such incidents are “common in big cities.” Facing backlash, he later apologized, clarifying that his words were misunderstood and reaffirming his commitment to women's safety.
