Congress Promises a Game-Changer: Free Electricity & Rs 2,500 for Women!

As Delhi gears up for its upcoming Assembly elections on February 5, Congress has rolled out a series of promises to woo voters struggling with inflation. Introducing the ‘Mehngai Mukt’ Yojana, Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, accompanied by Delhi Congress chief Devender Yadav and other senior leaders, outlined the party's key proposals.

If Congress is elected to power, it promises to provide 300 units of free electricity to residents, LPG cylinders at Rs 500, and free ration kits to ease the financial burden. These promises are aimed at offering immediate relief to households grappling with rising living costs.

In a bid to attract female voters, Congress announced a Rs 2,500 monthly allowance for every woman, a move that seeks to address the financial struggles many women face in the capital. Additionally, the party introduced the ‘Jeevan Raksha Yojana,’ offering free health cover up to Rs 25 lakh, further positioning itself as the party of social welfare.

The Congress also targeted unemployed youth, promising Rs 8,500 per month for one year to educated, jobless individuals. These initiatives are part of the party's broader strategy to regain the support of voters disillusioned by the AAP government’s leadership.

The Delhi elections have seen a heated political battle, with AAP hoping for a hattrick after successful wins in 2015 and 2020, while the BJP intensifies its criticism of Arvind Kejriwal’s government. Congress, which failed to secure any seats in the past two elections, is looking to make a comeback.
