The national capital Delhi continued to struggle with air pollution on Wednesday, as the Air Quality Index (AQI) registered in the “very poor” category at around 335-345. According to the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) data, a majority of monitoring stations across the city hit the red-zone classification for air quality.
Meanwhile, meteorological data from the India Meteorological Department (IMD) showed the minimum temperature in Delhi dropped to 21.8 °C, about 3.4 °C above the seasonal norm. Morning hours were marked by mist and haze, with the IMD forecasting mainly clear skies for the remainder of the day.
The combination of calm winds and residual particulate matter has resulted in poor dispersion of pollutants, sustaining unhealthy conditions. Experts warn residents — especially children, the elderly and those with respiratory ailments — to limit time outdoors and monitor pollution levels through official advisories.
