In the wake of India's Operation Sindoor targeting terror launch pads across Pakistan and PoK- flight operations across northern and western India have faced massive disruption. Early on May 7, Indian forces struck nine locations, prompting immediate airspace restrictions and Notice to Airmen (NOTAM) advisories.
Airlines like Air India, IndiGo, SpiceJet, Akasa Air, and Air India Express have cancelled hundreds of flights to sensitive border airports including Jammu, Srinagar, Leh, Amritsar, Jodhpur, and Bhuj. IndiGo alone cancelled over 160 flights.
The Airports Authority of India confirmed NOTAMs for May 7 and 8, affecting areas near the Pakistan border. Civilian operations at over 15 airports, including Chandigarh, Pathankot, and Jaisalmer, have been suspended till further notice. The move comes amid heightened security concerns after the deadly Pahalgam terror attack. The Indian government had also recently restricted airspace access for Pakistan-operated aircraft. Passengers are advised to monitor airline advisories for updates and rebooking options.
