Numerous studies link moderate coffee intake to lower risk of type 2 diabetes, Parkinson’s disease, Alzheimer’s, liver disease, and certain cancers, while overall mortality rates drop by up to 15–30%. Coffee’s antioxidants and anti-inflammatory compounds support heart health, metabolic function, and weight control . One long‑term study showed women drinking ~315 mg caffeine daily aged more healthily by 2–5% by their 70s.

Cognitive & Mood Effects
Caffeine enhances alertness, reaction time, focus, and may reduce depression and suicide risk . In older adults, morning coffee can improve memory retention and attention into the afternoon.

Potential Downsides
Too much caffeine may trigger anxiety, jitteriness, heart palpitations, or insomnia - especially if consumed late in the day .
