Dr. Anjali Garg’s journey from operating tables to administrative offices is nothing short of remarkable. Born in Chandigarh in 1996, she consistently topped her academics achieving a perfect 10 CGPA in Class 10 and scoring 96 percent in Class 12 before clearing NEET and earning her MBBS at VMMC and Safdarjung Hospital in Delhi.
Yet, amid long night shifts and patient rounds, she glimpsed a deeper calling. Treating individual patients felt meaningful but she yearned to heal healthcare on a systemic level. That realization launched her UPSC pursuit, even amid immense uncertainty.
Her journey was grueling: 12-hour night duties, hospital corridors turned into makeshift study zones, and health tolls like joint pain and illnesses that tested her resolve. Her first attempt during the pandemic ended in failure not defeat. She emerged stronger, refining her strategy and mastering her optional Medical Science securing an impressive 134 marks. In her second attempt in 2022, she achieved All India Rank 79 and entered the IAS.
Today, she serves as Assistant Commissioner in Dharamshala, Himachal Pradesh deploying the same compassion and discipline that once guided her in medicine.
