In a dramatic escalation, Israeli airstrikes killed six people across Gaza on Saturday, just hours after U.S. President Donald Trump urged Israel to halt its bombing campaign. The strikes targeted a house in Gaza City, resulting in four deaths, and another in Khan Younis, killing two others. The timing raised questions about Israel's commitment to the peace plan brokered by Trump.
Earlier, Trump's administration announced that Hamas had agreed to release all remaining Israeli hostages within 72 hours, marking a significant step toward de-escalation. In response, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's office confirmed that Israel was "prepared for the immediate implementation" of the first stage of the peace plan, which includes the hostages' release.
However, Netanyahu's statement did not address Trump's call for an immediate cessation of hostilities. The Israeli military continued operations in Gaza, issuing warnings to residents about the ongoing dangers.
The situation remains tense, with international observers urging both sides to adhere to the ceasefire and prioritize humanitarian concerns.
