Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde has reiterated his commitment to "80% social work, 20% politics", following a state assembly resolution praising him for receiving the Sant Tukaram Maharaj Puraskar. However, the honor comes amid controversy surrounding stand-up comedian Kunal Kamra, who called Shinde a “traitor” during a recent comedy show.
While CM Devendra Fadnavis has demanded an apology from Kamra, Shinde has not commented on the issue. The Mumbai Police has registered an FIR against Kamra for his remarks, while also arresting 12 Shiv Sena workers for vandalizing Habitat Studio, where Kamra performed. A case has been filed against 40 party members for ransacking the venue.
Shinde, in his response to the resolution, dedicated the award to the people of Maharashtra, vowing to continue working for the common man despite ongoing political tensions.
