India's Emergency Warning System: Is your Phone set up?

The Indian government, through the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) and NDMA, is testing its emergency alert system today, May 7, 2025. This mock drill will assess how quickly real-time alerts reach users during natural disasters or terror threats. To receive such critical alerts, make sure your phone settings are updated.

Android users (Android 11+):
Go to Settings > Safety and Emergency > Wireless Emergency Alerts and turn on all options. Note: Menu names may vary slightly on brands like Samsung, OnePlus, or Xiaomi.

iPhone users:
Navigate to Settings > Notifications, scroll to the bottom, and enable Government Alerts and Test Alerts.

These alerts may still come through without an active SIM or while roaming. Enabling this feature is crucial for personal and national safety - don't miss out on life-saving information.
