Indore is gearing up for the National Lok Adalat on December 14, 2024, organized under Principal District and Sessions Judge Ajay Srivastava, who also heads the District Legal Services Authority. With a system of 82 benches across key judicial venues like the Indore District Court, Labour Court, Family Court, and Tehsil-level courts, the event aims to deliver swift justice through mutual settlements.
The Lok Adalat will tackle 2,637 criminal cases, 951 civil disputes, 2,731 motor accident claims, 2,203 electricity-related matters, and 9,606 cheque bounce cases. Other categories include 544 matrimonial issues, 242 maintenance disputes, 33 land acquisition conflicts, 17 criminal appeals, 236 civil appeals, and over 2,100 miscellaneous cases.
In addition to pending cases, the event will address pre-litigation matters, including 56,266 bank recovery cases, 2,073 electricity disputes, and 23,435 other issues. This proactive approach helps resolve disputes before they escalate, reducing the judiciary’s workload while providing quick resolutions.
District Legal Aid Officer Mithilesh Dehariya has encouraged participants to take advantage of this platform for harmonious resolutions. District Judge and Secretary Asif Ahmed Abbasi highlighted the event’s ability to offer timely relief and avoid lengthy legal battles.
