For some people coffee is the first thing in the morning and for some, it's a replacement to their breakfast (not a good thing though). Coffee is a beverage known to relieve stress, improve brain function and provide antioxidants to the body.
Human mind never settles and hence we keep on innovating different kinds of coffee drinks be it for taste or health. Dalgona, iced coffee, cinnamon espresso martini and many more are the brainchild of the same skill.
But there is one kind of coffee that is gaining a lot of hype by not just office goers but also celebrities and that is, Bulletproof Coffee. Notable personalities such as Kriti Sanon, Rakul Preet Singh, Bhumi Pednekar, Ed Sheeran swear by this bulletproof coffee.
What is bulletproof coffee?
Bulletproof coffee is also known as butter or ghee-coffee. It is a high-calorie caffeinated drink made with added fat. It is intended to fuel start your day by replacing heavy breakfasts. It was created by the creator of the Bulletproof diet, Dave Asprey, an American entrepreneur and author. The drink has become popular with low-carb and keto diet followers.
You can make yourself a bulletproof coffee by just adding a spoonful of unsalted butter (ghee) to your regular coffee or any kind of coffee be it espresso or a cappuccino. The ingredients are blended together, served warm.
Since many of the celebs and health enthusiasts approve of this coffee being healthy but is it so? Let’s decode.
The originator of Bulletproof Coffee claims that a cup of it provides a steady source of energy to start the day, offering a low-carb alternative to traditional heavy breakfasts, such as cereals. These carb-rich foods can cause spikes in blood sugar levels, leading to energy crashes and cravings for more sugar. Bulletproof Coffee is curated in a way to provide sustained energy without the blood sugar.
Can you replace your breakfast with this coffee? Maybe not. Breakfast is supposed to ‘break’ your fast from last night and hence to fuel yourself for the next day, you need to provide your body with necessary nutrients and fats and energy to kickstart.
And just a cup of coffee as it claims to be may not provide you with the same energy as a breakfast would also, it won’t be a good choice for a longer run as it may spike your blood and cholesterol levels.
Bulletproof coffee may be healthy for some people, as long as you consume it as part of a balanced diet and don’t have elevated cholesterol levels. It may be especially appealing for those on ketogenic diets.
