In a groundbreaking step to revolutionize internet connectivity, the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has partnered with Beckhaul Digital Technologies to deploy an extensive 700 km fibre optic network across all metro corridors, including the Airport Express Line. This initiative is set to significantly boost Delhi’s telecom infrastructure and contribute to the nation’s vision of becoming a digitally connected powerhouse.
The deployment of the fibre network will be carried out in phases, starting with the Pink and Magenta Lines, and is expected to be completed within six months. This cutting-edge network will act as the backbone for high-speed internet, supporting telecom operators, ISPs and data centers and will help bridge the digital gaps in metro stations, tunnels and underground stretches.
Not only will this fibre optic network enhance digital connectivity but it will also play a pivotal role in supporting the rapid rollout of 5G technology across the capital. Commuters can expect faster more reliable internet services while telecom providers will benefit from improved mobile coverage and seamless data services in high-traffic metro areas.
This ambitious project aligns with the Government of India’s Smart City mission and aims to prepare Delhi for the future by transforming it into a highly connected tech-driven city. With this upgrade, the DMRC is ensuring that the capital is ready for a digital future, improving daily lives for millions of metro commuters.
