Tulsi, also known as Holy Basil, is highly regarded in Hinduism and is found in many Indian homes due to its medicinal and spiritual significance. However, many people struggle with their Tulsi plants drying out or failing to grow. If you're facing this problem, here are some effective care tips.
Watering Tips
Overwatering is a common mistake when caring for Tulsi. The plant doesn't need water every day. Excess water can cause the roots to rot and lead to the plant wilting. Always check the moisture in the soil before watering. Only water when the soil feels dry or lacks moisture. If the soil is already wet, avoid adding more water.
Sunlight Needs
Tulsi requires plenty of sunlight to grow healthy. Place your plant in a spot that gets at least 4-6 hours of direct sunlight every day. Without enough sunlight, the plant may weaken and dry out. A sunny location ensures that the plant thrives and remains healthy.
Proper Pot and Drainage
Choose a pot with proper drainage to prevent water from accumulating at the bottom. This ensures that excess water can escape and prevents root rot. A pot with a small drainage hole is ideal.
Pruning and Fertilizing
Regularly prune your Tulsi plant by removing dry or yellow leaves. Adding organic fertilizers, such as compost or cow dung, once a month can boost growth and strength.
By following these simple care tips, your Tulsi plant will flourish and remain vibrant for years.
