In a significant development in the 1984 anti-Sikh riots case, former Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee (DSGMC) president Manjit Singh GK testified as a prosecution witness against Congress leader Jagdish Tytler. Singh told the Delhi court he received an anonymous envelope in 2018 containing a letter and a pen drive with an alleged voice recording of Tytler confessing to his involvement in the riots.
The case pertains to the killing of three Sikhs at Gurdwara Pul Bangash on November 1, 1984. Singh also accused Tytler of threatening a witness. Special Judge Jitendra Singh is hearing the case, and Singh's statement will continue on April 21.
Tytler, who was granted anticipatory bail in 2023, faces murder and rioting charges. Another key witness previously testified that Tytler instigated the mob outside the gurdwara from a white car.
