The BJP swiftly retaliated, with Suvendu Adhikari and Amit Malviya accusing her of insulting Hinduism and fostering communal division. TMC, however, defended Banerjee, stating that she criticized BJP's communal tactics, not Hinduism itself.
Banerjee reaffirmed her commitment to secularism and minority protection, warning of attempts to incite riots in Bengal. She questioned if BJP planned to alter the Constitution over its stance on minorities.
