The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), led by Arvind Kejriwal, unveiled its manifesto for the upcoming Delhi Assembly elections today. Promising to fulfill 15 key guarantees if elected, the manifesto focuses on social welfare, employment, and public services.
Accompanied by Chief Minister Atishi and senior party leaders like Manish Sisodia, Sanjay Singh, and Gopal Rai, Kejriwal emphasized boosting employment, improving infrastructure, and providing essential services to the people of Delhi.
Notably, Kejriwal pledged free bus travel for students and a 50% discount on Delhi Metro fares. He also promised women a ₹2,100 monthly allowance under the "Mahila Samman Yojana" and free medical treatment for senior citizens.
Kejriwal highlighted the city's low unemployment rate at just 2%, far below the national average of 6%, but acknowledged the struggles of young people facing job scarcity. He vowed to continue the welfare schemes such as free education, healthcare, and water and electricity subsidies, which the BJP criticizes as "revdis" (handouts).
Additionally, he reassured the voters that AAP would prioritize clean drinking water, the restoration of the Yamuna River, and better roads in the next five years.
In his attack on the BJP, Kejriwal claimed that if they were to win, the financial burden on Delhi's citizens would rise by ₹25,000. With Delhi's 70 assembly seats going to the polls on February 5 and the counting set for February 8, the AAP's manifesto aims to secure another victory with promises of progress and welfare for all.
