With the summer heat intensifying, many are experiencing low energy, irritability, and physical discomfort. Swami Ramdev warns that extreme heat impacts not just our mood but also our muscles and nerves. Due to excessive sweating and dehydration, the body loses vital electrolytes, leading to muscle cramps, low blood pressure, and even serious risks like blood clots, heart attacks, or strokes.
To counter these issues, Ramdev emphasizes the importance of maintaining proper blood circulation. He recommends practicing yoga daily, which can significantly relax muscles and improve nerve function. In addition to regular exercise, he advises staying well-hydrated by drinking 4–5 litres of water daily and consuming foods rich in vitamin D, such as gooseberries (amla).
To support nerve health, Ramdev suggests avoiding tight clothing, maintaining a healthy weight, and limiting salt and sugar intake. He also recommends including specific summer-friendly foods like bottle gourd, lemon, orange, lassi (buttermilk), and mixed pulses, which are highly beneficial for the nervous system.
For topical relief and internal strength, Swami Ramdev suggests using natural remedies like a clay paste made from Multani mitti (fuller’s earth), aloe vera, turmeric, neem, camphor, and guggul. He also highlights the benefits of Ayurvedic herbs such as giloy, ashwagandha, bunion (possibly referring to Shyonaka), and guggul for building overall nerve resilience and muscle strength. These holistic tips aim to help individuals stay energized, balanced, and protected from the adverse effects of summer.
