On freezing winter nights in Lucknow, when footpaths turn into shelters, a group of young students is quietly spreading warmth. Led by 19-year-old Shagun Pal, the Praan Foundation, a student-run initiative, launched a winter donation drive to support homeless and underprivileged people across the city.
The drive began in late October with a simple goal - collect warm clothes and distribute them before the cold worsens. Donation boxes were placed inside the university campus, where students and teachers contributed jackets, sweaters, socks, blankets, and footwear. Volunteers then carefully sorted and packed these items into kits for men, women, and children.
The team didn’t stop at clothes. They also distributed hot meals, stationery, and basic essentials to people living on streets, under flyovers, and in temporary shelters. So far, hundreds have benefited, and the foundation aims to help nearly 400 people this winter.
Praan Foundation believes real change begins with small actions - and this winter, their kindness is proving that warmth can save lives.
