A bizarre and grim incident occurred in Belagavi district, Karnataka, as 30-year-old Vinod Malashetti was stabbed to death over a dispute about an extra piece of chicken at a friend's post-wedding dinner on July 13, 2025. Hosts had gathered at a farm owned by the groom’s friend, Abhishek Koppad, to celebrate the recent wedding, when Vinod requested more chicken from server Vittal Harugopp, claiming his portion was too small .

What began as a harmless request quickly escalated into a heated argument. In a sudden fit of rage, Vittal allegedly stabbed Vinod with a kitchen knife - an ordinary tool used for chopping onions - which led to fatal injuries from which Vinod succumbed immediately from excessive bleeding .
