Mumbai’s Traffic Police are on high alert after receiving a chilling threat via their official WhatsApp line on September 5, 2025. The message claimed that 34 vehicles had been rigged with "human bombs" carrying a total of 400 kg of RDX, and that 14 Pakistani terrorists were involved in a coordinated terror plot orchestrated by a group calling itself “Lashkar-e-Jihadi”.
Although the nature of the message resembles previous hoaxes, officials insist that precaution is imperative. Consequently, the Mumbai Police, along with the Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) and other agencies, have launched a full-scale probe and significantly ramped up security across the metropolis.
Enhanced measures include widespread combing of key areas, deployment of over 21,000 personnel, AI-assisted traffic and crowd management, drones, CCTV surveillance, and mobilization of Bomb Detection and Disposal Squads (BDDS). Residents have been urged to remain vigilant, report suspicious activity promptly, and refrain from spreading rumors. As Mumbai prepares for Ganesh Visarjan and Anant Chaturdashi celebrations, authorities emphasize that every precaution is being taken to protect the city and its people.
