Netflix has signed a 15-year agreement with the American Forest Foundation (AFF) to purchase verified carbon credits from AFF’s Afforestation, Reforestation, and Revegetation (ARR) project. This initiative, called Fields & Forests (F&F), helps family landowners in the U.S. South turn underused fields into thriving forests.
Traditionally, small landowners have faced high costs and complexity in participating in carbon markets. Netflix’s investment covers all site preparation, tree planting, technical support, and annual payments for 30-year contracts, making the program fully accessible.
To date, the F&F project has enrolled 2,500 acres, aiming to expand to 75,000 acres by 2032, potentially generating 4.8 million carbon credits. Netflix’s early-stage milestone payments provide critical upfront funding tied to acres enrolled, ensuring tangible impact.
John Ringer from AFF highlighted that Netflix’s support demonstrates how business and nature can align to tackle conservation challenges. The program not only advances climate goals but also empowers rural communities and supports family-owned forests, creating a scalable model for corporate investment in natural climate solutions.
