In a significant update, Indian Railways will no longer allow passengers with waiting list tickets to travel in sleeper or AC coaches starting May 1.
This move is aimed at improving the travel experience for confirmed ticket holders. Under the new regulations, passengers holding waiting list tickets will only be permitted to travel in general class.
If any waiting list passenger is found in sleeper or AC coaches, Railway authorities, including the TTE, will have the right to either fine the individual or shift them to the general compartment.
This policy change comes after many passengers with waiting tickets were occupying seats meant for confirmed travelers, causing discomfort and overcrowding. The aim is to ensure better comfort and convenience for those with confirmed tickets. Travelers are advised to plan their journeys carefully, especially if they are on a waiting list.
