Pratibha Patil, the first woman President of India, served from 2007 to 2012, marking a historic moment in the nation’s democratic journey. Born on December 19, 1934, in Nadgaon, Maharashtra, she exhibited leadership potential from an early age.

Pratibha pursued law at Government Law College, Mumbai, and ventured into social work, focusing on women's empowerment and education. Her political career began in 1962 when she was elected to the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly. She held several significant portfolios, including Minister of Public Health and Social Welfare. Her tenure was marked by reforms, particularly in healthcare and education.

In 2004, Pratibha became the Governor of Rajasthan, making history as the first woman to hold that position. Her presidency was marked by her focus on inclusive growth, technology, and gender equality. She initiated schemes promoting women’s rights and rural development, and her visits to over 20 countries strengthened India's diplomatic ties.

Despite controversies during her tenure, Pratibha Patil’s presidency remains a milestone for breaking barriers in Indian politics. A notable controversy spiked during her career in which she is said to have cooked and washed dishes at the then Prime Minister, Indira Gandhi's residence after Gandhi lost thee election of 1977. This incident came in light when Amin Khan, Minister of Panchayati Raj of Rajasthan in 2011 passed this statement in a gathering. He quoted this incident stating how Pratibha Patil stayed loyal to the Gandhi family even during the hard times and eventually got rewarded.

Post-presidency, she continues to contribute to society through philanthropy and advocating for social causes. Pratibha Patil’s life reflects resilience, dedication, and a commitment to public service, inspiring countless women across India.
