On Sunday, July 13, 2025, 52-year-old stunt trainer and coordinator Mohanjraj - also known as S. Mohanraj - tragically collapsed and died during a car-toppling stunt on the set of Pa Ranjith’s upcoming Tamil film, Vettuvam, in Nagapattinam district . The incident occurred at Vilunthamavadi village, where he slipped while executing the stunt and experienced sudden chest pain. He was immediately rushed to Nagapattinam Government Medical College Hospital but was declared dead on arrival .

A viral video shows the stunt going awry, with local crew members rushing to his aid minutes after the accident . Veteran actor Vishal confirmed Mohanraj’s passing on social media, paying tribute to his “brave” stunt work over the years and pledging support to his family .

Keelaiyur police have registered a case, and an investigation is underway to determine the exact cause - whether accident, health-related, or due to equipment failure .
