Official reports vary: Hindustan Times confirmed several fatalities, while Economic Times and India Today cite at least 10 deaths alongside numerous injured - ranging from 14 to 26 - with several in critical condition .
Emergency services quickly deployed 11 fire tenders, SDRF/NDRF units, rescue teams, robots, and earthmovers to control the blaze and search for survivors and bodies trapped under rubble . The burst reportedly occurred during routine reactor operation, but the exact cause remains under investigation .
Local officials, including Sangareddy’s Superintendent of Police, noted that many workers - mostly migrants - were at the reactor site when it exploded. Rescue and relief operations are ongoing, with injured individuals hospitalised and authorities, including Telangana’s Chief Minister, calling for relief and a detailed probe into safety protocols.
This remains a developing situation, with exact casualty figures and causes yet to be confirmed.
