A powerful 7.7-magnitude earthquake struck Myanmar, leaving over 1,000 dead and 2,376 injured, with aftershocks further damaging infrastructure. The epicenter, near Mandalay, triggered collapsed bridges, roads, and homes, leaving cities in darkness.
In response, India launched ‘Operation Brahma’, swiftly dispatching disaster relief, rescue teams, and 15 tonnes of humanitarian aid to assist the affected regions. Prime Minister Narendra Modi personally reached out to Myanmar's leader, offering condolences and support.
The tremors also rocked Thailand, where six deaths and 47 missing persons were reported, with buildings near Bangkok's Chatuchak market suffering severe damage. Hope fades as search efforts continue.
Authorities warn that casualties may rise as rescue operations battle against time to recover survivors from the debris.
