The All India Muslim Personal Law Board (AIMPLB) has called upon secular political parties, including allies of the ruling BJP, to strongly oppose the Waqf (Amendment) Bill set for discussion in the Lok Sabha on April 2. AIMPLB President Maulana Khalid Saifullah Rahmani stated that the bill contradicts Articles 14, 25, and 26 of the Constitution and could lead to the large-scale seizure of Waqf properties.
The board alleges that the amendment will make it easier for government authorities to claim religious endowments, threatening the preservation of minority heritage. Minister Kiren Rijiju confirmed that the bill would undergo an eight-hour debate in the House. With rising tensions and political opposition, the fate of the bill remains uncertain.
