The Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) has successfully carried out the first flight test of the Integrated Air Defence Weapon System (IADWS) off the Odisha coast. The trial, conducted around 12.30 pm on Sunday, marks a breakthrough in strengthening India’s defence capabilities.
This system is designed to counter multidomain enemy attacks, including aerial and missile threats. It forms a core part of Mission Sudarshan Chakra, an ambitious plan to create a fully indigenous nationwide defence shield by 2035.
The project will bring together DRDO, other research organisations, and private industry to build advanced technologies within India, reducing dependence on imports.
With this successful test, India has inched closer to its long-term vision of self-reliance in air defence and a stronger security framework for the future.
