The 2025 Delhi University Students' Union (DUSU) elections have witnessed a significant shift with an increased presence of women candidates, signaling a move towards gender inclusivity in campus politics.
For the first time in 17 years, the National Students' Union of India (NSUI) has nominated a woman, Joslyn Nandita Choudhary, for the president's post. A postgraduate in Buddhist Studies and an advocate for women's rights, Choudhary's candidacy is seen as a historic move in DUSU's political landscape.
Similarly, the Left alliance, comprising the Students' Federation of India (SFI) and the All India Students' Association (AISA), has fielded Anjali from Indraprastha College for Women as their presidential candidate. Their campaign focuses on women's safety, hostel facilities, and representation for marginalized groups.
This surge in women candidates reflects a broader trend towards gender representation and empowerment in student politics, challenging traditional norms and paving the way for a more inclusive political environment in Delhi University.
